India Accuses Pakistan of Ceasefire Violation, Vows Strong Response

India has charged Pakistan with breaching the truce established with US assistance, stating that they are reacting to these violations.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri conducted a press conference where he verified that a cease-fire accord had been established, yet alleged that Pakistan breached this truce on Saturday night. He urged Pakistan to take action against these breaches to prevent further tensions at the borders and stated that India is providing “an adequate and fitting reaction.”

India and Pakistan committed to a complete and instant cessation of hostilities on Saturday.

That had been increasing since an assault on Indian-administered Kashmir in April, as both nations verified.

India’s chief minister for the territory of Kashmir and Jammu, Omar Abdullah, posted on X in the last few hours that explosions could be heard in Srinagar, the largest city of the region.

He posted, ‘There is still no truce. The anti-aircraft units in the center of Srinagar have just become active.’

The Pakistani Prime Minister delivered a national statement via broadcast at 11 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET), though it failed to mention any potential breaches of the ceasefire.

President Donald Trump first announced the ceasefire in a post on social media.

“Following extensive discussions facilitated by the United States through the night, I’m delighted to confirm that India and Pakistan have committed to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire. Kudos to both nations for employing sound judgment and remarkable wisdom. Thanks for your focus on resolving this issue!” This statement was made by Trump in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed in a statement that during the last 48 hours, Vice President JD Vance and he have been engaged in discussions with representatives from India and Pakistan to facilitate an urgent cessation of hostilities.

Rubio stated in a release that he commends Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif for their wisdom, prudence, and leadership in opting for the route of peace.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday thanked President Trump “for his leadership and proactive role” and said this “marks a new beginning in the resolution of issues that have plagued the region.”

Earlier Saturday,

officials stated at a press conference that

had attacked 26 locations across India and the Pakistani military had begun moving its troops “into forward areas.”

Multiple times before, I’ve stated that it was Pakistan’s actions which amounted to provocations and escalations,” said Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. “India responded responsibly and with restraint against these provocations and escalations initiated by Pakistan. This morning, unfortunately, we witnessed yet another instance of this escalating and provocative behavior from their side.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated that the advancing positions of Pakistani forces suggest an “aggressive aim to intensify the conflict further.”

India’s armed forces continue to maintain a high level of operational preparedness,” Qureshi stated. “Every aggressive move has been successfully thwarted and suitably addressed. The Indian armed forces reaffirm their dedication to avoiding escalation as long as the Pakistani military also commits to de-escalation.

The Indian Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh refuted claims that Pakistan’s attacks had inflicted any harm on India’s military installations.

“Pakistan has also attempted to execute a continued malicious misinformation campaign, with claims of destruction of the Indian S-400 system at Adampur, destruction of airfields at Surat and Sirsa, Brahmos space at Nagrota, artillery gun positions in Derangyari and Chandigarh ammunitions depot, with heavy damage to other military stations being propagated on social media,” Singh said. “India unequivocally rejects these false claims being spread by Pakistan.”

Over the past few days, India and Pakistan have been exchanging border skirmishes and attacks, resulting in civilian injuries on both sides.

Tensions have been rising between the nuclear-armed neighbors since the April 22 attack on Hindu tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir, which India blamed on Pakistani-backed militants. In response, India on Wednesday launched strikes on both Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, targeting what it called “terrorist infrastructure.”

Pakistan has denied any involvement in last month’s attack and said it was conducting retaliatory strikes on India and Indian-controlled Kashmir.
