Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Targets Chinese Firms With Sanctions

Following reports of Chinese weaponry being provided to Russia, Ukraine has enacted sanctions against three Chinese firms, as per a presidential decree signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As per the decree, the sanctions aim at:

The decree also instructs Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry to discuss the potential for analogous sanctions with the relevant bodies of the European Union, the United States, and other nations.


Supplies of Chinese weaponry to Russia

On April 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that China is providing arms to Russia, such as gunpowder and artillery.

He further stated that Chinese delegates are engaged in weapon manufacturing within Russia.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian brushed off Zelenskyy’s comments as “baseless.”

Meanwhile, two Chinese nationals fighting for Russia were recently captured by Ukrainian forces. They claimed they had signed a contract with the Russian military but did not want to be sent to the front lines.
