Trump fumes over EU leaders’ public ‘affection’ for Zelenskyy after White House conflict

The outlet recalled that
after the confrontation in Washington
, Zelenskyy traveled to Europe for a working visit, where he met, among others, with King Charles III.

Previously, the
Daily Mail
it was reported that Trump felt “less special” after viewing pictures of Zelenskyy’s meeting with the monarch. Only a few days prior, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer had extended an invitation from the King to the U.S. President.

What irritated Trump, as reported by Politico, was not only Zelenskyy’s encounter with royalty but also “how Europe was enthusiastically welcoming him.”

The British official informed journalists that Trump’s team disapproved of how excessive the displays of fondness appeared. According to the same source, this response from the U.S. could have led the UK to ramp up pressure on Ukraine subsequently, encouraging them to revert to talks with Washington.

Trump-Zelenskyy clash in the White House

During a press event in the Oval Office on Feb. 28, a sharp exchange took place between Trump, Zelenskyy, and Vice President J.D. Vance. Trump interrupted Zelenskyy, saying he “should be grateful” and accused him of “playing with World War III,” leaving little room for a proper response. At one point, Trump declared, “Either you make a deal, or we walk away.”

Vance defended Trump, adding that Zelenskyy “should be thankful to the US president who is trying to save his country.”

Zelenskyy stressed that any peace deal must come with real security guarantees and reminded that the Russian dictator had repeatedly violated previous agreements.

After the meeting, the Ukrainian team departed from the White House earlier than planned, and as a result, they did not endorse the proposed pact concerning rare earth minerals.

Trump subsequently stated that Zelenskyy “does not appear to be someone interested in peace,” whereas he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin “aims to conclude the conflict.”

During an interview with Fox News, Zelenskyy admitted that the conflict “didn’t benefit either party.” He also stated when questioned if he thought the incident was planned beforehand that he wasn’t sure about it.
