On Friday, Vice President JD Vance stated that President Donald Trump believes he can eventually succeed in negotiating a resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Vance addressed a bilateral meeting in Rome alongside Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“I would like to brief the prime minister about some of the discussions with Russia and Ukraine, as well as certain developments that have occurred within the last 24 hours,” Vance stated.
I believe we have several noteworthy items to discuss, particularly regarding confidential negotiations. I won’t make assumptions about their outcomes, but we remain hopeful that these talks may lead to bringing an end to this extremely harsh conflict.
This comes mere hours after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cautioned that the Trump administration might “proceed” with other actions if their attempts to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia do not yield positive outcomes in the upcoming days.
Russia and Ukraine have been engaged in conflict for more than three years now, with each country documenting numerous fatalities up to this point.
Trump has joined efforts with several European countries to negotiate a peace agreement aimed at resolving the dispute between the two neighboring nations.
