India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire following four days of intense military exchanges targeting each other’s installations in the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack, which left 26 people dead. However, just hours after the ceasefire was announced, Pakistan broke the agreement by firing along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
India denounced the ceasefire infringements by Pakistan, which included border shelling and drone operations, asserting that they take this issue “extremely, extremely seriously.” The Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, cautioned about a robust reaction, stating that these recurring transgressions clearly contravene the accord.
“In recent hours, there have been multiple breaches of the agreement made earlier tonight between the Director Generals of Military Operations from India and Pakistan. This constitutes a violation of the accord established earlier today,” stated Misri.
The truce, declared after a night of talks supposedly facilitated by the United States, sparked guarded hope globally. Various international figures called for calm and implored both parties to seek enduring peace via conversation.
