On Sunday, May 11, President Donald Trump declared a significant development in resolving the persistent dispute between Russia and Ukraine. This announcement came only a day after he claimed to have facilitated an agreement for peace between historical adversaries India and Pakistan.
“Potentially a great day for Russia and Ukraine!” Trump stated in a social media post.
“Consider the hundreds of thousands of lives that could be saved as this endless ‘bloodshed’ potentially concludes,” the post continues.
The president did not provide particular specifics about which accord might have been settled upon or the extent of America’s involvement in the talks.

Trump’s comments come amid heightened global tensions and follow his announcement on Saturday, May 10, that he had helped mediate peace talks between India and Pakistan, both of which have fought multiple wars since their independence and maintain a volatile relationship, particularly over the disputed Kashmir region.
