Senior members of the Trump administration are hurriedly working to protect U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff following a CNN article that depicted him as a “lone wolf.”
“Conducting this diplomatic shuttling without even one expert seems highly uncommon. This truly baffles me. It appears strange and far from optimal,” CNN cites a seasoned US official regarding their views on Witkoff.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio posts on Twitter: “Steve Witkoff is an outstanding figure within the America First movement. It’s fortunate for Americans to have someone like him advocating on their behalf to secure the release of hostages and facilitate negotiations for global peace. Why do these journalists and ‘unnamed sources’ persist in manufacturing controversy when there isn’t any?”
“Foreign policy experts from DC, who have dedicated their careers to being incorrect, continue to propagate obsolete arguments and assault Steve Witkoff out of envy since he has attained more success in just 88 days than they have managed throughout their whole careers,” adds US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.
“Yet another time, @CNN resorts to labeling certain ‘veterans’ and longstanding experts to defame a patriot utilizing their significant skills to enhance safety for both the U.S. and the globe,” notes US National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes in a tweet.
