According to a
famed Russian academic, ex-President Donald Trump comes into view
as a “Soviet leaders’ dream” due to his policies towards Ukraine since assuming office. As reported in the Russian weekly newspaper Argumenty I Fakty and translated by BBC Russia Editor Steven Rosenberg, the scholar compliments Trump for “driving a wedge” between the US and “the European part of NATO”.
Following Vladimir Putin’s
In 2022, following the unauthorized annexation of Ukraine, Russia became internationally isolated.
Nevertheless, guided by Trump, the U.S.’s position toward Russia has softened, underscored by telephone discussions between Trump and Putin as well as encounters involving senior officials from both countries in third-party locations.
Concurrently,
The United States took a strict stance towards Ukraine, temporarily suspending military aid.
And promoting intelligence sharing, all while urging the Ukrainian government to resolve the conflict, which could involve possibly relinquishing territory.

Furthermore, Trump’s statements have frequently echoed those coming from Moscow; he labeled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “dictator” and accused Ukraine of instigating the conflict.

These advancements highlight the growing alignment between American foreign policy objectives and those of Russia, a perspective reinforced by the recent discussions between U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and President Putin.
The report highlighted: “Relations between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, which seemed to have improved a little, have once again descended into arguments and mutual insults.”
It was highlighted that an uncommon convergence of interests had occurred: “Furthermore, a paradoxical scenario has emerged where both Moscow and the US administration stand united against Trump’s adversaries in America and Europe.”
Moskovsky Komsomolets, another publication, took a bolder stance, asserting that the US President’s conduct is “destroying the world created by American liberals.”
In a different tone, Russian senator Alexei Pushkov penned in a newspaper column: “None of the steps Trump has taken threatens Russia’s interests directly.”

He optimistically added, “I don’t think that we will perish under the rubble of the old world order that is collapsing, quite the opposite.”
Trump had vowed to halt the conflict in Ukraine immediately upon starting his second term, yet the specifics of this promise remain uncertain.
Onlookers propose that terminating the conflict might necessitate the U.S. severing Ukraine’s supply lines, since the country significantly relies on American military and financial assistance.
Andrew Fox, who is both an academic and a former Parachute Regiment officer, has voiced his worries that the present US government’s strategies might be unintentionally aiding Russia and heightening worldwide dangers.
He stated, “Leaving Ukraine, which is currently at war following its invasion by Russia and has faced widespread civilian atrocities, still battles against allies like Iran and China despite receiving only minimal weaponry to sustain its resistance. How can Trump support Russia?”
By doing this, wars in other parts of Eastern Europe and Asia become much more probable.
