Following the engagements in Izyum, Levanov directly confronted his superiors and filed an official request for discharge from military duty.
As a result, he and four other “rebelling officers” were apprehended and confined to a basement, according to the posting.

The final communication from Levanov and the others to their families stated: “They transported us to an abandoned facility in the ‘LPR’, where they confined us in a cellar guarded by soldiers. The environment is humid, there’s nowhere comfortable to rest as there’s only bare concrete flooring, and we have neither food nor water. We’ve been informed that our confinement will continue until specific instructions are issued.”
Levanov hasn’t been in contact since.
Subsequently, his mother in Luhansk was presented with an entry in a combat log that had been dated retroactively, indicating that her son had passed away.
