Nigerian Forces Take Down Bandit Leader Ibrahim Kaboni and 8 Others

Operation FANSAN YANMA forces have allegedly conducted an ambush on the well-known bandit chief Ibrahim Kaboni as well as eight of his men just outside Tsafe, close to Keta village within the boundaries of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

Zagazola Makama, an insurgency specialist with expertise in the Lake Chad area, shared this information in a tweet posted on Thursday.

Makama stated that intelligence reports informed him about an ambush taking place during continuous missions carried out by the soldiers from 1 Brigade late on April 16, 2025.

As stated in the report, the mission was executed by a combined unit comprising military personnel along with various security organizations after continuous monitoring of the armed faction’s activities.

The security specialist mentioned that the informant revealed an intense firefight occurred as a result of the ambush.

The soldiers pursued the gang members as they retreated amid heavy gunfire, leading to the elimination of the ringleader and his accomplices, while some escaped with gunshot injuries.

“Ibrahim Kaboni has been included in the security watchlist due to his suspected involvement in multiple fatal assaults, abductions, and livestock thefts throughout Tsafe and nearby regions,” stated Makama.
