Russia Bombards Ukraine with Missiles and Over 70 Drones; Air Defense Thwarts Attack

On the evening of April 17, Russian terrorists initiated an assault on Ukraine using a variety of UAVs and missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, these attacks originated from three different angles.

In the assault, the adversary initiated:

· Two Iskander-M ballistic missiles originating from Russia’s Rostov region;

· three S-300/400 surface-to-air missile systems originating from the areas of the Luhansk region currently under occupation;

· 75 Shahed-type drones along with decoys were launched from the areas near the Russian cities of Kursk and Millerovo, as well as from the temporarily occupied region of Chauda in Crimea.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel involved in fending off the assault included:

・aviation;

・anti-aircraft missile units;

・electronic warfare units;

・mobile fire groups.

By 10:00 a.m., Kiev time, it has been confirmed that 25 Shahed drones were shot down across various regions including the eastern, northern, southern, and central parts of Ukraine. Furthermore, 30 dummy drones were also neutralized locally with no adverse effects reported.

As a result of the shelling, the following regions suffered:

・Donetsk;

・Kharkiv;

・Sumy;

・Dnipropetrovsk.

During the all-out war, Russia has been conducting continuous assaults on Ukrainian soil, utilizing an extensive array of weapons ranging from long-range missiles and bombs to artillery and attack drones.

Quite often, the adversary employs Shahed-type drones, deploying them mainly during nighttime across different areas of the nation with the intent to harm vital infrastructure, power plants, and civilians.

On the evening of April 16, Russian forces dispatched 97 Shahed UAVs along with dummy drones originating from various angles.
