As reported by a Reuters source, the UAE-facilitated exchange will include approximately 500 Ukrainian and Russian prisoners of war—comprising 46 injured servicemen—with an equal number of 246 detainees being exchanged from each side.
The document further mentions that so far, the UAE has facilitated exchanges resulting in the release of 3,233 prisoners.
Following warnings from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Washington will cease attempts to broker a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine within days without concrete indications of a truce, the exchange took place.
An earlier prisoner swap occurred on March 19, during which Ukraine regained 175 soldiers from Russian custody.
